The 2014 Christmas Tea was held at the Red Maple Inn, 14707 S. Cheshire Street, Burton, Ohio. The featured speaker was Charlene Connors from Women In History doing a portrayal of First Lady Caroline Harrison. We had 69 guests and netted $3,573.86. The event's caterer was Nancy Gottron of Upscale Eats. The menu included a plate of 5 savories - Scones with Devonshire Cream & Jam - and a sweet plate.

The 2014 Theater Party "Oliver!" at the Chagrin Valley Little Theater was underwritten by The Junction Auto Family. We had 3,100 cookies provided by 43 volunteer bakers. The event attracted 244 guests and netted $5,506.70.

An Afternoon with Michelle Knight drew about 275 people. Mark Nolan (WMJI Radio show host) was our moderator for the event. The FOWS Event chair was Helen Wilson.

July 19, 2014 - Summer Dance with Dr. Zoot

The toe tapping music of the popular band Dr. Zoot kept the dance floor crowded all evening. In addition to wonderful music, dance lessons were conducted by Will Craig and Lindsey Leonard. Top that off with delicious desserts from the Whole Foods Market and an all-certificate Chinese Auction and you have a great evening where people enjoyed themselves while raising money for a good cause. Thanks to our incredible event partners: Bainbridge Swing Dance and Kenston Community Education along with the support of our sponsors, the Summer Dance netted over $2,000.00. Our sponsors were:

May 14, 2014 - Spring Luncheon, "Blossoms & Butterflies"

The guest speaker at the luncheon this year was Natalie Ronayne, Executive Director of the Cleveland Botanical Garden. Over 140 guests enjoyed an assortment of hot and cold sasndwiches, salads and pastries provided by The Reserve House Caterers as Ms. Ronayne talked about the history and future of the Garden. Harpist Virginia Dickson provided beautiful background music while the guests shopped at the Chinese Auction. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, the luncheon netted $6,377.80. Sponsors included:

During the luncheon, Shayna Jackson, Executive Director of WomenSafe presented philanthropist Roe Green with a commemorative wall hanging consisting of memorabilia from the construction of The Green House, the shelter that was named in honor of Ms. Green.

May 10, 2014 - Wine Tasting, Berkshire Hills Country Club

Friends of WomenSafe held the Fifth Annual Wine Tasting at Berkshire Hills Country Club in Chesterland. Guests sampled an interesting variety of foreign and domestic wines courtesy of Heidelberg Distributors as well as delectable chocolates from the Hartville Chocolate Factory and rich cheddar cheese courtesy of Adams Reserve Cheddar, our Gold Sponsor for the evening. Hearty appetizers were served by Bada Bing Catering and dance music was provided by The Church Boys. The evening also featured a Wine Pull, extensive Chinese Auction, 50/50 Raffle and Silent Auction. The event netted $2,818.79.

April 27, 2014 - Maple Festival Parade, Chardon, OH
Tom Starr drove the car while Chardon Interact students Frankie Pinckard and, Leah Pastor helped Gail Stotlar and Stacia Clawson pass out toys and flyers to spectators along the parade route.
